1917 Fairbanks by Vega Style K Banjo Rim
1917 Fairbanks by Vega Style K Banjo Rim. Likely this was once attached to one of the fragile mahogany 8 string necks that used on this model of mandolin banjo. That neck is no longer with us, so the options for you to make a new neck for this orphan rim are wide open. This maple rim is 10-1/16” in diameter, made with 5 plies, and 7/16” thick. Original metal parts included are the tension hoop, steel tone hoop, dowelstick neck attachment, and tailpiece end bolt. The hooks, nuts, and shoes are all modern. Half of the dark amber finish on the outside of the rim has been removed and is now natural, unfinished. The bottom of the rim had it’s finish removed as well. Still, it is a solid maple rim with all the hardware that would cost significantly more than our $200 price.
