1925 Vega Style N Tenor Banjo
1925 Vega Style N Tenor Banjo. 101 years old and still in good shape. This Style N has all the features you expect with only a few minor modernizations. The mahogany neck has a comfortable 17 fret, 21-1/8β scale ebonized maple fretboard. There is a little bit of wood chipping where the fretboard touches the tension hoop. The original friction tuners have been replaced with a new set of Gotoh planetary geared tuners. The 10-15/16β rim has all the original hardware, but the hooks have been replated. The tailpiece is a Grover Presto Ideal that is missing itβs cover. The new Remo head is frosted on the bottom. A previous owner added a nicely matching mahogany resonator that is attached by a screw through the resonator and dowelstick. With the string height being about 1/16β at the 12th fret, this banjo is quite comfortable to play. It sounds good as an openback, but the resonator gives it extra volume and bit of growl. Currently set up for Irish tuning (GDAE) but can easily be set up for DGDA jazz tuning. $450 is the price and we include a Superior 2 gig bag.
