1923 Vega Little Wonder Rim with Modern 5-String Conversion Neck
1923 Vega Little Wonder Rim with Modern 5-String Conversion Neck. With the plethora of vintage tenor banjos that need more in repair costs than their resale value, replacing that worn out or broken 4-string neck with a conversion 5-string neck can make sense. The new neck on this banjo looks professionally made, but is not signed to pinpoint the exact maker. Made from hard maple with stunning and exceptionally tight figure, it has a 26” scale ebony fretboard, and a dark rosewood peghead overlay and backstrap. The 1-1/4” (width at the nut) neck is reinforced with an adjustable trussrod. The vintage maple rim has the well-known half-spun Little Wonder tonering with a 10-15/16” diameter. The 28 hooks and nuts are of recent vintage. The shoes are original to the rim. Other new parts include Gotoh tuners, a Remo Renaissance head, and a No-Knot tailpiece. The string height is quite comfortable at 3/32” Tone is full and precise. The selling price for this professional grade banjo is $1,200 and a sturdy gigbag is included.
